Gott’s ice cream

Rating: Role Player

Catching a hot day in San Francisco feels like spotting a unicorn — rare, fleeting, and best enjoyed with something cold in hand. We ducked into Gott’s at the Ferry Building for a quick ice cream treat for the kids, and it hit the spot.

We kept it simple: a couple of chocolate scoops (rich and satisfying without being overbearing), gummi bears for one kid, and an Oreo cookie topping for the other. The mix-and-match worked well — fun toppings kept the kids happy, while the chocolate base delivered that classic, creamy goodness.

The prices were fair by SF standards ($4.29 for ice cream, $1.39 for toppings), and the portions were just right for cooling off without overloading little stomachs. Service was quick and friendly — exactly what you want when corralling kids in the Ferry Building crowds.

All told, it was a sweet little pit stop that turned an already rare hot afternoon into a small family memory. Next time the sun shows up in full force, we’ll know where to go.
